Salmon
Streamside Guide Service offers both spring and fall Chinook trips. The
spring trips are on the Willamette and Clackamas rivers as well as Tillamook
bay. The trips start in March and run thru mid-June. Spring Chinook are
smaller than the fall fish, averaging between 10-20 lbs. They are the best
eating Chinook you could ever catch though. The fall Chinook season runs
from August thru December. The trips are on the lower Columbia until mid
September, then the action switches to Tillamook bay and the Tillamook area
rivers. The fall Chinook range in sizes from 10 to over 60 lbs. The Columbia
fish are usually not as big as the Tillamook fish, but are very abundant.
The Tillamook fish average 25-30 lbs., but fish over 60 lbs. are caught
every year.
Sturgeon
Streamside Guide Service offers Sturgeon fishing trips on the lower Columbia
river. The lower Columbia is home to literally millions of Sturgeon. The
Sturgeon trips run from late April thru August. Streamside Guide Service
specializes in using light tackle for these outstanding fighting fish. We
fish as shallow as 5 ft. of water with this light tackle. When these
Sturgeon are hooked in such shallow water, they go absolutely crazy, jumping
and running all over. Days of 40-50 hookups a day are norm. Sturgeon are an
excellent eating fish as well. Your catch is cleaned and bagged at the end
of the day for you as well.
Steelhead
The Steelhead trips are for winter Steelhead on the north Oregon coast.
These are float trips in a 19 ft. Willie driftboat that will fish 3 people
very comfortably. The trips start in
late November and run thru March. The early run is made up primarily of
hatchery fish that may be kept. By mid-February, the natives arrive in the
rivers as well as fresh hatchery fish. The hatchery fish usually average
5-10 lbs. The natives can tip the scales at over 20 lbs. Catching a 20 lb.
Steelhead is quite an experience that you will never forget. |
